Wilsons Auctions sets sails with second government auction in Newport!

Seized yacht ‘The Tazik’ and Dolce & Gabbana FREND Headphones to be sold with no reserve at our Newport Unreserved Government Auction on March 14th.

A 30ft sailing yacht, The Tazik, at the centre of a people smuggling court case is set to go under the hammer during our Newport Unreserved Government Auction on Wednesday 14th March.

A pair of Dolce & Gabbana x FRENDS headphones with Swarovski crystals, worth £3,000, which sold out world-wide when singer Rihanna tweeted herself wearing a similar pair, will also feature in the second government auction to take place at the auction company’s South Wales which will start at 7.30pm along with cars, designer goods, jewellery, artwork and electrical items.

Lots will include a Mercedes-Benz E350, Audi A3 and Q7, a Mitsubishi Evo and a Swift Bar Chopper Bike Frame. Other items include designer watches by Audemars Piguet, Franck Muller, Rolex and Cartier, Apple products including an iPad, iPad Air 2, iPhone 6s and iPhone 7.

In addition, a range of designer shoes, bags and accessories will be auctioned from well-known brands including Gucci, Jimmy Choo, Hugo Boss, Dolce & Gabbana, Ray-Ban, Prada and Canada Goose coats and gilets.

Wilsons Auctions is more than just an auction company, managing the whole asset realisation process for a number of government agencies and over 40 law enforcement agencies across the UK and Ireland.

The auction will be available to a worldwide audience through Wilsons Auctions’ online bidding facility, LiveBid and will take place alongside Newport’s already established weekly car auctions.

Wilsons Auctions’ Group Asset Recovery Manager, Aidan Larkin said, “Following the success of the first Unreserved Government Auction in our Newport branch we are delighted to see its return on Wednesday 14th March. Another great selection of items will be going under the hammer including a sailing yacht, luxury cars, designer goods, jewellery and artwork and is a great opportunity to purchase quality goods for an affordable price.

“Wilsons Auctions is proud to facilitate government auctions each month. The role we play in realising these important assets is vital to our clients as well as the process in raising the money which ultimately goes straight back into the public purse. In recent years we have been responsible for returning in excess of £85 million to government coffers. Items include government repossessed assets, proceeds of crime related assets as well as corporate liquidation stock, all of which are sold to the highest bidder with no reserve,” he added.

A family owned business, Wilsons Auctions was formed in 1936 in Northern Ireland and has grown to become the largest independent Auction Company in the British Isles with sites in the Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland, England, Scotland and Wales.

Physical viewing of Lots will take place within Wilsons Auctions’ Newport branch on Tuesday 13th March from 12-4pm and Wednesday 14th March from 9am – 5pm. All Lots can be viewed at any time online with additional images available on request.
