Wilsons Auctions Jumpstarts 2016 With 2 Acquisitions
Wilsons Auctions has announced the acquisition of 2 auction facilities in the North and South of England, bringing their total national footprint to 8.
The auction group has purchased the former SMA Remarketing Newcastle centre from BCA for an undisclosed sum and a seven acre premises in Maidstone in Kent, bringing their total national footprint to 8 facilities, on top of its additional seven logistical and storage compounds across the British Isles.
BCA purchased the SMA group in June 2015 for a reported £43 million and following concerns raised by the Competition and Markets Authority it was obliged to sell off the Newcastle operation.
Wilsons Auctions Group Operations Director, Peter Johnston said; 'We are delighted with both of these acquisitions. The location, premises and staff in Newcastle, will be an excellent complement to our future plans for the region and will enable us to build on the business already retained by the site. We have many existing contracts that we currently service in both the Newcastle and Maidstone areas, and these new acquisitions will enable us to strengthen our offering and reduce existing logistics costs."
Wilsons Auctions has grown to become the largest independent auction company in the British Isles with sites in the North and South of Ireland, England, Scotland and Wales. The business is a progressive and forward looking company with a passion for continually finding new ways to offer first rate sales and services to both buyers and sellers alike. It's auction portfolio includes everything from cars, property, plant & machinery to high end valuables like super cars, watches, gold and more.
