Wilsons Auctions Announces Anti-Counterfeiting Group (ACG) Membership
Wilsons Auctions is honoured to announce that the company has been accepted as an Associate Member with the Anti-Counterfeiting Group (ACG).
As the largest independent auction company in the UK and Ireland, Wilsons Auctions has become the leading asset realisation provider within the public sector, working with over 40 law enforcement agencies and over 170 government bodies across the UK and Ireland.
The ACG work with UK, European and international Governments and enforcement bodies, to provide a collaborative and effective response to counterfeiting. Their mission is to empower multi-agency partnerships and to strengthen international collaboration. The ACG is at the centre of an international network of information, advice, and contacts on all aspects of IP protection and has a direct link to UK, European and international anti-counterfeiting authorities. These include Interpol, Europol, the World Customs Organisation, the OECD, the EU Observatory on IP Infringements, and the United Nations Interregional Crime Institute.
Wilsons Auctions works with the biggest brands in the world to help identify counterfeit goods and protect their brands. Instructed to authenticate and value tens of thousands of assets each year that have been seized under the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA), Wilsons Auctions is proud in supporting ACG’s fight against the global trade in fake goods.
Benefiting from the ACG Associate Membership will allow Wilsons Auctions to access the latest industry training and provide information on the current counterfeit trends.
Speaking of the announcement, Government Contracts Manager, Mark Woods said ‘We are delighted to gain Associate Membership with the Anti-Counterfeiting Group. This will benefit the extensive work that goes on behind the auctions we conduct, which includes identifying counterfeit items that have no value for inclusion within confiscation proceedings, at an early stage of an investigation. As we both work with multiple government departments and law enforcement agencies, the Anti-Counterfeiting Group was a natural partnership for us. We are excited to see what all will come from the relationship.’
Wilsons Auctions manages the whole asset realisation process for its clients, including collection, valuation, storage, re-marketing and auctioning of assets.
